"Just a Little Lagniappe".......FREE STUFF AT B'sue Boutiques

I like that word, 'lagniappe'. Do you know it? It's a French term, going back to earlier times when comestibles were hand-measured into bags at the mercantile. For example, you'd go and ask for a pound of sugar, the merchant would ladle it into a burlap bag, but before handing it to you, he'd weigh in an extra scoopful, while saying, 'lagniappe'.....which means, "a little something extra".

To be sure, though, the idea goes back to Bible times. In Jesus' day, a sparrow was an edible bird. But, they were worth so little, if you bought four....they would give you five. (Luke 12:6, 7).

Lagniappe!

Poor little sparrows!

But just as Jesus said, YOU are worth more than many sparrows, and we feel that way, too, at B'sue Boutiques. And that's why we take such pleasure in giving you a little something extra with your orders.

We NEVER figure the cost of our goody bags into the shipping fee; the freebies we give away are also deliberately *not* figured into our overhead. They are actually a little more than lagniappe.....they are a GIFT, from B'sue. Enjoy!

So...what IS the free stuff?

1. All orders at this website go out with a little bag of treats. B'sue has been doing this for all of her 20+ years in business, it's sort of a 'thing' with her.

2. If your order is OVER 50.00, you get a special goody bag. B'sue packs these special goody bags, herself. She will not delegate this job to anyone else. She makes a big basket of them every Sunday afternoon, and it's something she really looks forward to doing. You get a bunch of treats, specialty teas, free samples of our brass stampings and findings (usually there are about 5-6.00 worth of free stampings or more! in those bags!) and sometimes, when we have extra, some fun art papers for altered art.

3. FREE LINKS. Would you like to link to our website? Just let B'sue know by sending your information to bsue1441@aol.com. We need your name, the name of your website, and its URL with a short ten-word description, and a few day's patience as we will have to send the info to our webmaster and let him put the link up. While it is not mandatory, it is good web etiquette for *you* to give us a reciprocal link on*your* website. When you contact us with your link, we will send you our information so that you can do that, if you would be so kind.

4. Would you like to share a project with us?If you develop a project that involves mostly our merchandise, or a special brass patina or colorization technique (a special love of B'sue's), let us know by writing to B'sue at bsue1441@aol.com. Please point us to a URL for a web page or a gallery where we can see a photo of the completed project, this is best as we do not accept attachment photos on our office computers. B'sue will review the piece and if she thinks the project will work out for publication on our site, she will ask you to develop a project and will let you know how to proceed. Once you have finished the project, she will have you send it to our webmaster to be uploaded to our website, and you will receive a $50.00 gift certificate to spend any way you wish on our website at http://www.bsueboutiques.com. You will be given full credit for the project and a link to your website will also be displayed on the project report, on our website.

The idea of lagniappe is contagious. If you sell the things you make, why not consider paying the idea of lagniappe forward; find some little thing that you can tuck into an order, and share it with *your* customers. It will bring someone joy, and it will bring *you* even more when someone writes you and tells you: "I was having a bad day and then....your package came! I really enjoyed the little gift! Thank you so much!"
