New Project: Cafe Bracelet by Rita Freud

This bracelet is easy to make and features B'sue's button grid chain, found in the Jewelry Chain section of this website.

Materials:
Grid chain
3 13mm buttons
Wire
Seed Beads (to match charms, optional)
Toggle Clasp
18-20 charms
Headpins
Glue (E6000)

Photo One: Grid chain with three buttons

Lay out your grid chain. Select three 13mm (1/2 “diameter) buttons . Lay them on your grid chain on the fourth, fifth and sixth link. Position each button against the edge of the link and glue. Once they are completely dry, you can begin to add your charms.

Photo Two: Grid chain with loose charms

Plan your charm design. A combination of flat beads in different shapes and a few round beads work very well with this chain. I used flat leaves, vintage dime beads and tiny vintage floral beads, embellished with seed beads. Once you are happy with your design, begin to add the charms to the bracelet links. Make your loops slightly bigger than usual to create a comfortable jingle jangle.

Photo Three: Completed bracelet

Add your clasp. If you choose, a different kind of clasp, you will need to check how many links plus the clasp equal about 7”.
Enjoy!

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Rita started making jewelry 15 years ago. All of her work is "fatto a mano", that's Italian for: handmade.
She works mainly with glass beads, with vintage and new components.
Her work is inspired by so many different things, but some of her recurring themes are flowers, (especially roses), vintage and Victorian, sentimental and inspirational jewelry, fairy lore, charms and talismans.

You can see more of her work at her Etsy shop and her blog:
