Charmed Life

Iced Enamels® powders, enameling medium and ICE Resin® work symbiotically to create a permanent, jeweler’s grade bond of color on all types of metals, from precious metals to base metals. This "Cold Enameling" bond will never rub off, fade or yellow over time.

MATERIALS:
  • ICE Resin Plunger (PLUNGER)
  • Iced Enamels Powders:
    • Turquoise Relique (powderturquoise)
    • Ivory Relique (powderivory)
    • Raspberry Relique (powderraspberry)
    • Pewter Relique (pewterpowder)
    • Iced Enamels Relique Glitz, Gold (glitzgold)
    • Iced Enamels Medium (Iced Enamels Medium)
    • Iced Enamels brush (icedbrushes)
  • 2 Square bezels
  • 4 metal blanks (Flower, Dog, turtle, Dress)
  • Alcohol Ink (purple)
  • 7 14x10mm Black Onyx oval faceted beads
  • 6 8x5mm Periwinkle Crystal rondelles
  • 6 4mm Teal crystal rounds
  • 6 8mm Cat's eye pink rounds
  • 3 10mm turquoise resin rounds
  • 3 10mm purple Mountain Jade rounds
  • 6mm brass etched cable chain
  • 23 brass headpins
  • 29 5mm brass jumprings
  • 2 7mm brass jumrings
  • 9mm etched brass jumpring
  • Brass hook clasp
TOOLS:
  • Screw hole punch
  • Non-stick craft sheet
  • Toothpick
  • Baby wipes
  • Sheet of paper
  • Craft heat gun
  • Paint brush
  • q tip
INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Use a screw hole punch to punch a hole in the flower, dog, turtle, and dress blanks.

2. (pics 2 & 3) Lay a blank on a piece of paper and apply a thin layer of Iced Enamels medium. Sprinkle on desired color of Iced Enamels powders. If more enamel powder is desired, paint on more enameling medium and sprinkle with more of the enameling powder than re heat with heat gun. Pour excess powder back into container. Sprinkle on a tiny bit of Relique Glitz if desired.

3. Begin heating the side of the metal with the heat gun, then heat the top of the metal until the enamel starts to slightly bubble. Push the metal off of the paper onto a nonstick craft sheet to cool (protect your fingers from the heat by using a toothpick or other tool). Repeat with the other blanks.

4. Repeat process with the Square bezels. Use a toothpick to push enameling powder off the sides and into the bezel if desired.

5. Work on a nonstick craft sheet or tape some wax paper or garbage bag over work area. Mix ICE Resin® following manufacturer's instructions. Apply resin to the enameled blanks using a paint brush and drip resin into the square bezels using a popcycle stick. Let dry overnight.

6. Apply purple alcohol ink around the sides of the bezels using a "q" tip.

7. Finish bracelet by stringing desired beads onto headpins and make wrapped loops. Connect bezels, charms, and beaded links onto chain using jumprings. Connect a brass hook to one side of bracelet using a 5mm brass jumpring, then connect a 9mm etched brass jumpring to the other side.

TIPS:
The paint brush can be cleaned and used again if only used with the Iced Enamel's medium. If used with resin, then it should be thrown away after use.

One or several enamel powders can be used together to achieve a different color. Colors can be sprinkled directly onto the piece or mixed in a small cup and poured.

If the resin spills over the sides or in the holes, use a toothpick to slide the the element around to draw away the excess.

If desired, paint some resin on the sides of the bezel using a paint brush or tooth pick after applying the alcohol ink.

The Relique Glitz powders are enameling powders too!

ICE Resin® dries in 8 to 12 hours after applying, but needs 3 days to cure fully. I usually allow overnight before working with it.
