For the past 17 years, Pantone has surveyed the fashion designers of New York Fashion Week and beyond for the most important color trends. From this, a "Top 10" of prominent hues are chosen. And, one is selected as the "color of the year".

2010 was the year of turquoise. 2011 is the year of honeysuckle, a vibrant reddish-pink.

These 10 colors/hues are promoted seasonally in the Pantone Fashion Color Report. Here is a link for the Spring 2011 report. You can view the colors and read about the inspiration behind those chosen.

As jewelry artists, we can use Pantone color trends to our advantage. Designing jewelry using these colors will undoubtedly match current fashions. And who doesn't want to find the latest and greatest jewelry piece to match their new outfit! Fashionistas are driven by trends. They buy what's "in". You, as a "hip" jewelry artist need to appear knowledgeable of these trends by creating and selling jewelry using these colors!
