Rosa by Hilary Frye of FryeStyle

I was inspired by the new, Ranger Distress Stickles, Lumiere paints, and Gilder's Paste. I added sweet and sparkly, rosy details to the silverware metal plating on the tea rose. For added glamour I used Swarovski AB crystals and a hand-dyed silk ribbon.

Necklace finished length (adjustable with ribbon, cord, or chain)

Note: This project is designed for adults. Some materials may be toxic and must be used with caution.

Tools:
latex gloves and mask (optional)
size 6 nylon shader brush
old rag
needle nose pliers
chain nose pliers
wire cutter

Materials:
E6000 adhesive
Ranger Distress Stickles in Worn Lipstick
Lumiere paint in Halo Pink Gold
Gilders Paste in Tulip Red
B'sue Manipulated Bow SKU Number:silwar09771
B'sue 3-Large Layered Flattened Tea Rose SKU Number:silwar02464
B'sue Moroccan Influence 50mm filigree in silverware
2.5mm Swarovski head pin
6mm Swarovski 3700 Marguerite Lochrose Crystal AB (unfoiled)
8mm Swarovski 3700 Marguerite Lochrose Crystal AB (unfoiled)
10mm Swarovski 5003 Disco Ball Crystal AB
Silk ribbon, cording or chain
6" 22 ga. colored wire
Bail

Note: Curing time is important. This is not a fast process. You must let the rose dry adequately before layering each medium. Always wash your brush immediately after use or it will get ruined.

Directions:
1. Degrease the silverware metal stampings prior to use.

2. Move to a ventilated area, room temperature 70°F and low humidity. Brush 2-3 thin coats of Lumiere paint onto entire front of rose with shader brush. (Let dry between coats.)

3. Apply Gilders Paste with your finger on edges of rose petals. Rub excess off with old rag. Let dry.

4. Now, squeeze Ranger Distress Stickles as an accent onto the petals. Use your shader brush to spread it out. Let dry.

5. Using the head pin to stack the center of the rose, string the 6mm crystal, then the 8mm crystal, then the rose. Using the round nose pliers form a coil tightly at the back base of the rose component. Watch B'sue video to see how a coil is made.

6. Afterwards, place the rose face down on a soft terry towel, and gently tap the coil flat with a hammer.

7. While still in the ventilated area, glue the rose component to the Moroccan filigree with E6000. You may need to prop and level the rose while it dries overnight.

8. Wire wrap one end of the colored wire to the bow. String on the 10mm crystal and wire wrap the other end to the filigree.

9. Attach bail to bow. String ribbon, cord, or chain through the bail.

10. Wear and store the necklace properly to avoid abrasion to the painted finish. (I did not seal the rose because it would take away from the texture of the Ranger Distress Stickles.)
