I don't know how it works, but it does and now I can't live without them. All jewelry gets dirty, from the oil on your fingers, wearing, or even just sitting out. Silver especially will tarnish over time. But this little cloth will wipe away all of the dirt, oil and tarnish with just a few wipes and you'll see how much comes off by looking at the cloth. As you use it, the dirty area will turn the cloth black. Use every inch of both sides, but be careful to replace the cloth if it is completely black or you'll just wipe it right back onto the piece your cleaning. You will be absolutely shocked at how much gunk can come off one simple necklace or ring.
